Really lovely. I liked the boys' interaction and the cautios tension about them. I was a bit confused though with all the changing of the narrative from present tense into past tense and then back again since it probably wasn't intentional. Otherwise well done. :)

Spring Awakening, actually, was the musical I was referencing. RENT would be the obvious one, and I originally thought of using it, but then it wasn't quite the right atmosphere... and yet it is at the same time. Lol.

great last line- it ties everything together well. As for jersey accents, well, it takes one to know one. My only qualm is "the card". I read it as a business card which I thought was sort of off- I don't know many college students with them. Otherwise, good story.
