You are definitely not overreacting in being concerned, darling. I would try and approach him with kindness and caution. Talk to him about how he is feeling, open up to him, and hopefully he will be able to open up for you. Set an example. Tell him you care about him and you want him to be happy. I love you, Liz. Good luck with whatever happens. You are incredibly insightful, and I know you will make a good decision. Substance abuse is a touchy subject, but, yeah. I hope you are doing well with all of this.
I...have a feeling that he and his friends would just act like it's not a big deal. He might get mad about it, but I really believe that the best thing to do would be to talk to your dad about it. I think he'll take it as seriously as it deserves and he'll know better what to do.
