The smoke from burning marijuana leaves contains several known carcinogens and the tar it creates contains 50 percent more of some of the chemicals linked to lung cancer than tobacco smoke. it makes more sense if you think of it in terms of hemp. if pot were legal, so would hemp be. if hemp were legal we would no longer need dupont's plastic or the logging industry. Dupont and the logging industry have a lot of money to donate to political campaigns, and to use to buy lobbyists. Being as it's not in rich people's best interest to have a biofriendly crop that anyone can grow that produces the strongest natural fiber known to man and can replenish itself every 6 months, I don't expect them to legalize either any time soon.

Don't believe that's why? Fair enough. But then why is hemp still illegal? Other countries grow it now, but we still have it banned b/c it LOOKS too much like pot. And they know that there are ways to control and monitor that, they would just rather not bother for some strange reason.
