Summary: At 18 and facing his final reaping, Chris thought he was safe. When his name is chosen and he's shipped off to the Capitol to fight in the 72nd Hunger Games, his mentor is of limited help and his fellow tribute is a 13-year-old girl... who he might have to kill to survive. So, I think the thing that I'm happiest about with this one is that it's built entirely out of one texture and applying layer styles to path clippings of it. Obvious references to the seals released to accompany the movie are obvious, but I did change District 4's symbol, replacing the three fish and the hook in the original with a single fish... partly to make this not just look like changed text and partly because... I like the simpler image a bit more.
Interestingly, I originally made this based off the summary before reveals went up and I got in touch with my author - at that point it had a different, holding design in the centre and apparently belonged to the mysterious and unknown District 15... I changed it around a bit once I knew which District Chris was from.
I feel a bit bad about the fact that I promised the_deep_magic something with the boys in it and only managed to finish one of Chris - I did start several other pieces, including a couple of the final scene, but, well... Zachary Quinto's face defeated my drawing ability. A lot.
This particular scene - Chris' interview with Flickerman - is one that's skimmed past in the actual fic - all we hear about it is that [very minor fic spoiler]Chris swore once - and it got me curious as to the rest of the interview.
...Chris' shirt also turned out more purple than I intended, but let's just say that's the cool coloured lighting on Chris and Flickerman, mmkay? Possibly combined with the blue threads through the fabric. Yes. These are legitimate sounding reasons.
