This weekend sees the Great British Duck Race - an attempt to break the world record for the number of plastic ducks travelling a 1km course on the river Thames

Thanks for pointing this out. Given my love of narrowboating, I have adopted a duck for the Canal Boat Trust, which provides adapted boats for hire by disabled people.
