*In the Nexus, in one of the farflung sections, there is an old and somewhat dilapidated-looking temple: its appearance from a distance suggests a Christian church, but visitors approaching will soon become aware that it patently is not. The windows, where they remain intact, may be stained glass, but there are no depictions of saints here, no angels, no Jesus or his maiden mother. The gargoyles in the stonework are more reminiscent of Mayan carvings than anything else, and the carved inscriptions around the doors and windows are made in the same fashion.
The sky is studded with small clouds, which seem to gather around the temple's steeple, and lying at ease in the grass beside the path is a white-haired figure, apparently playing with something in his cupped hands*
