For those of you that don't know I accepted an offer to go to Penn State College of Medicine for a PhD next fall. I am happy with my decsision and have been searching for apartments and getting excited about living in Hershey for the next 5 years. However I recieved this email today...

it may be tempting to take a nice big swig of that Coca-Cola, but take a moment to think about it first. What was the nature of their department, meaning are you going to get the attention you need or are you just going to be another face in the crowd? Do they have the research you're interested in? How do the schools compare within the field of biology, not just in general?

It is a great name but visit before you send anything to penn state. Once you say something your done with them. Thomas Shenk is a person to stay away from according to my brother and you should definitely talk to him because he can tell you what his advisor said. Call him he also said he can find out for you about other people.
