Organisms that allow me to live with them

Since my trip to the herbarium, I've been thinking about the botanical (and non-botanical) biodiversity in my own apartment. So here, dear friends, is an annotated list, organized by taxonomic family, of all the organisms (macroscopic ones, at least) that allow me to live in their company.

Oh, okay ... mildew is caused by microscopic organisms. :-P

Exactly. Plus, I have no clue what species it is, nor do I wish to find out. I just want it gone. If I started getting into the microscopic world, where would the list stop? Dust mites? The occassional fungus growing in my potted plants? The algae in the fish tank? Soil or enterogastric microbes? ;-)

I'm only interested in the macroscopic. But check your basement, I bet you have a bit of mildew, too.

Heh. Not just in the basement. That's why I need a vent in my main bathroom. (Summer project?) In the meantime, Tilex is my friend.

Of course. Now, remember, I had given you an idea for a quick fix, going around that pesky problem of actually cutting into the walls or ceilings.

Mine has almost bit the dust :-( The other two, Neomarica caerulea and N. longifolia are doing great and may bloom, though I don't think I have sufficient light. N. northiana seems to be my cat's favorite plant to chew on and she has reduced the several pup plants I had when I moved here to only two plants with several half-chewed-on leaves. I moved them to a more secure location, but they don't seem to like it there. Bad kitty! (At least she's a vegetarian and not gnawing on my fingers?)
