This is my revel. There are many others like it, but this one is mine...!

Today was sucktacular for no obvious or apparent reason. Started off sucky and it will probably end up very sucky. My job today dragged on and on and on. It was one of those mornings when the minutes would not change on the clock and I found myself checking on those minutes constantly hoping for release. I've been rather argumentative too which ( Read more... )

Are you talking about Romero's 1978 film? Because that's not European AFAIK, just old. If you are saying that the 2004 version beats the crap out of the 1978 version, I will raise an eyebrow at your challenge of canon, but allow it. I only watched the newer version once and did not think it was a total piece of crap in the way that newer zombie films usually are, so I'll just let it ride without argument. :)

AH I see that Dario Argento did a version of the film for European release that I have never seen or even heard of. New mission.

How about Lucio Fulci's stuff? Zombi II, with the zombie vs shark scene? Seen it? Opinions?

So what are your favorite kind of horror flicks? Are horror films something you have a particular interest in/passion about?

Anyway, sorry, I am something of a horror film nerd, or just a shlock/gore cinema nerd, really. You don't have to engage if you don't want to.

Yep, totally talking about the 1978 version!

I have not seen Zombi II yet! I have however seen Sharktopus which was a headache and a half.

My favorite horror flicks combine dark atmospheres with thriller elements. This include: Cube, Audition, Something Wicked this Way Comes, Arachnophobia, White Noise, Stir of Echoes, 8mm, Last House of the Left (2009 remake) The Ring (2002 remake) The Birds, Poltergeist, and Se7en which is more mystery/thriller.
And yes! I do try to watch at least one horror film per week. But I will admit that I'm a bit of a 2nd Degree horror-preneur. I haven't really explored any of the REALLY old horror flicks which I actually enjoy more than the later ones. Got any recommendations?

Oh and Tremors! But that one is merely for fun! Not for scar factor! Same with Starship Troopers!

Er, also, sorry about your bad day. Sorry, I got so caught up in nerding on films that I forgot to address the human stuff.

Also, yes on American Psycho. I read the book as a teen and really hated it, but feel like the film is entertaining, hilarious, and more or less keeps to the main point of the book.

No worries! Human stuff can really suck sometimes. It's understandable that films would take precedence over odd moods.

I have not read the book yet. But I've been meaning to watch the film and eventually read the novel as well. Same with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I wouldn't feel so bad about not being able to do a thing for your friend's hatchday. It really is the thought that counts, sometimes. :)

The evening turned out quite well! Chinese food was made! And there was pie ... with a big fat candle sitting on top of it! XD

Myles- normally I'd try and say something nice to cheer you up. Like how awesome you are, blah, blah, blah.

Instead I will say this- it's 5AM and I just opened the bottle of Riesling we got together. And it's awesome. And now my night/morning is awesome. And you should know this.

Sometimes it's best to dispense with the pleasantries and go straight for the wine! I'm glad you enjoyed the riesling!
