I just downloaded a couple of Wolves in the Throneroom albums, as well as Skeletonwitch.

Skeletonwitch are fun but pretty generic, but Wolves in the Throne Room are the real thing, man. Totally beautiful and sublime, like Tintern Abbey sublime. Very interesting guys as well, worth digging up an interview or two.

Spent any time with Neurosis?

I've been digging Wolves in the Throneroom. At one point, in the same track, Amber says, "Is this the same band?" And I'm not sure how you go about being so atmospheric and almost calm while still being scary as hell.

WIll check out Neurosis.

Yeah, to me Wolves definitely conjure that overpowering nature dread and terrible beauty, which is generally the thing I am looking for when I listen to black metal.

As for Neurosis, I recommend starting with "Times of Grace" or "Through Silver and Blood," both of which are truly powerful experiences and encounters verging on the gnostic (to my twisted mind, at least).
