when i drive my car, i notice this odd smell but i'm not sure exactly what it is that it smells like. i pulled into my garage and went inside for a minute and came out and my whole garage was filled with this smoky smelling stuff...it doesn't smell like gas or anything. anyone have any ideas??

If the smell is, for lack of a better word, twangy, it might be electrical. If it's more full and musty and rubbery, it might be a belt or a rubber plate of some sort, worn down and rubbing. Without being in the room with your car, I doubt this sort of thing can be easily diagnosed.

Has there been any performance issues that accompany the smell? If it was the throttle sensor, for instance, has the car been sluggish to respond to you? If the smell is coming along with something that you can pinpoint is most certainly electrical, it might just be a short.

When the car starts smelling again, take it immediately to a mechanic and let them smell around. Some mechanics will dismiss "I smelled something funny" unless they experience it themselves.
