trying to be a real writer

today i was working my last shift at gladfelter, cutting broccoli florets for the salad bar and thinking about a billion things - what's my new job going to be like? do i have the discipline to continue writing without someone giving me assignments? do i want to stick with poetry forever? do i want to go to culinary school? do i even want a career ( Read more... )

i definitely know how you feel. after i graduated i was like "oh i am going to take a break from art because it's been the source of my stress for the past four years and now I need to breathe." i didn't realize at the time that without any structure, i was going to go a long dry spell without painting. you're lucky you have this on your mind now before you get into a funk. just don't think to hard and let the words flow!
