and you should grab some as well. I was just reading a good research piece on natural linen shifts and there use in the 1760-1770's. Apparently they were just as equally as common and bleached linen.
I only got to glance over the paper, but it was written by the owner of Wm. Booth Draper for the Brigade Dispatch. The article was written based on lists of imported items and items listed for sale by merchants, and the clear separation of natural and white shifts.
I am going to request a copy of it next time I order from him (which will be soon), and when I get it, I will pass it on.
$2 a yard? FOR REAL? I'm going to go dream of reenactment costumes made out of actual linen than breathes and doesn't make you want to curl up and die in Southern California heat.

Were those natural linen shifts found more predominantly in the northern areas or in southern areas?
