Hmmmm. I'm a bit late commenting, but this is a hard one. I'd say it really depends on you, but that you shouldn't invite him expecting anything. Or, if you do invite him, expect the worst (that way if something good happens, yay, but if not, well, you weren't expecting much, anyways).

Truthfully, there are people I wished I hadn't invited to my reception (some of which I'm still kind of almost not-quite mad at). So it's really a hard decision. But remember that it's your day and other people have NO RIGHT to pressure you to invite someone you don't want to.
