Please do forgive my delay; we have been flooded with work, recently.

She is as busy as the rest of us, and I dearly wish that I could say no further. As it is, however, she seems entirely too harried. She will vary between refusing to leave her desk and arriving several hours late. I must confess that it is rather easier on the rest of us when she fails to show herself, as the majority of her comments are most unkind.

I do hope that you are holding up well enough, Ms. MacDougal.

There was a joke going around for a while that I was dead; that is, I'd spent so much time working on a case that no one saw me outside of the office. I don't know who your friend's father is, but he must have believed it to be a fact, the poor sot.

Really. It was quite amusing for a while, but it's gotten somewhat stale.
