I love it. Poor Marcone, hurting so badly and so filled with guilt over what happened...and at the same time he's trying so desperately to be strong. And yes, he would worry about bringing ruin and destruction to a decent man. And of course Michael wouldn't worry about that at all--not because he doesn't recognize the possibility but because he owes Marcone. Michael would do the honorable thing, and let God take care of his reputation.
What I love is how well you've caught Marcone. He's a deeply dangerous man in a lethal and immoral business. And yet he's also human--in pain, traumatized by the Denarians, desperately lonely. It's wonderful. You've done a beautiful job of capturing the man's duality.

The way Marcone speaks, and Michael's quiet but sincere concern for everyone around him, and the way you describe the snow, the warmth of the shop... the "mainstays of male bonding" line!
