Dresden Files ficathon wrap-up

Jun 02, 2008 21:21

We've still got a few fics outstanding, but I've head from the authors or gotten backups, as necessary. I'm confident that everyone will have a fic before too long! If you've received a fic, please take a moment to comment and thank your writer, if you haven't already ( Read more... )

typing it up now...reading my flist to loosen my fingers after that writing. it'll be up soon.

I'd love to take part in another Dresden ficathon.

I think there was plenty of time to write, which was good. I liked the spread-out due date--that was easier on my flist, and was far less overwhelming; I got to read everyone's work.

And yes, I'd definitely like to see another Dresden Files ficathon. Maybe we could do it again later in the year?

That's a really good point, and one I hadn't considered. Thanks!

That seems to be the consensus so far. :)

I'd like to see another one, yesyes, please - later this year! I liked the spanned due date - for the same reasons as Gehayi.

But maybe there can be a trading session? After all the assignments are handed out, if someone really doesn't like what they've got - can't write for it - than they can trade with someone else. Two things: You can't know what the assignment is. You can only trade once. All trading would be done by the Mod.

I don't know how well that would work, but eh, who knows?

Great! :)

Now there's an interesting idea. Making the assignments was hard, harder than I expected. Some I was pretty confident on, but others... less so. I like the idea of letting people say, "Hey, I don't think I can manage this person's requests" and resorting among them. It might not always work, but we might give that a try next time. Good thought!

I have no complaints about the Ficathon at all. I loved my assignments, they were perfect for the kind of writing I do. I had lots of time to do it in and very little stress about getting it done on time (more getting it done right). My only suggestion would be a few more reminders about the due date. I know some people might find that nagging, but it might trigger an 'oh yeah, that's happening soon' response as well.

I'm definitely down with another one, whenever it might happen. Thanks so much for doing this, you did a wonderful job!

I'm so glad! :)

You're absolutely right about the reminders. I fell down on that this time; I'll make sure to post a couple of reminders the next time.

Thank you!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) I had fun organizing it!

The reminders are definitely on my list of "things to do better." You're both absolutely right about that.

Thanks for the comprehensive comment! That helps. :)

Twice a year sounds pretty good to me, though I worry about running up against things like NaNo and the Christmas ficathons. However, I'm fully willing to run this as often and for as long as people are interested!

You might want to skew it earlier, then. September-October, perhaps?
