Fleur Trope?

You guys, did I like, create a Fleur fanfic trope with No Defense For You? Because I got bored and started going through fanfiction.net last night and there seems like a huge amount of Fleur/Hermione fics that uses the whole veela blood heritage and destined true love at first sight thing I came up with for that fic as their way of hooking them up ( Read more... )

Um, I thought I told you about your trope-setting a while ago in a email fangirling you.... I could have sworn I did.

Yes, PLEASE write affair!fic, just so the F/H fandom has a bit more variety and depth. PLEASE!

Did you? lol. I'm sorry! It's SO weird though. I mean, I'm reading this one fic and it's good but Fleur is the DADA professor and it's all angst ridden like meingeheimnis's Fleur and I think that's another trope that maybe she created more than me. Super angst ridden over her one true love thanks to veela biology Fleur.

It's strange and boring to see the same plot points repeated over and over even if the fics are well done. It's like... cannibalizing fanfic ideas? lol. I dunno how to describe it but very odd.

I might write it! I had an online acquaintance volunteer to write the second half of the fic (which I find more boring) where Fleur/Hermione's affair is discovered which is the part I wasn't looking forward to writing.

Even if the second half doesn't get written, at least the first half will be something different. Heck you might even trope-set a second time! Then, there might be two tropes in the F/H fandom! (If we're counting the Fleur as DADA professor trope, even three!)

Take it as a compliment though. A sort of "you did it so well that it's almost considered canon" kind of thing.

I've been thinking about writing a F/H fic (which would be my first foray into fanfic writing in like... six years), but I'm scared! Even though I find myself plotting and making up dialogue while I'm in the shower...

Don't be scared. It's just fanfic! If you're thinking about it that much you should write it.

It is a compliment of sorts, more to meingeheimnis than me, I would think since her fic is way more popular/known than mine but it's just really weird to me the plot is used in almost every single Fleur/Hermione fanfic I read that was more than them just having sexytimes.

Haha, I know. I like the idea of abandoning the idea that Fleur is bound by her veela blood to only love one person theory. Instead having her and Hermione both in marriages that lack passion and they're no longer emotionally connected to their husbands.

Fleur refusing to accept this because veela are seen as flightly creatures who go from one lover to the next and she doesn't want to hurt her children by ending the marriage. See? lol. I think way too much about fanfic too. I have way too many ideas for fics in my head. This one has been there for over a year now? It should get written one day.

Did you create a trope? Hell, yes, girlfriend! LoL. I can't read any of the Fleur/Hermoine fics anymore, because of the sameness and maybe b/c the original is still the best for me. I still re-read the entire thing occasionally.

But, yes, something about that plot-line has struck a chord with the F/H shippers and they can't seem to veer away from it. They need a new awesome fic to shake them up. If only someone had and idea for a F/H affair fic.... ;)

It's very weird. I don't understand why everyone is using that plot to hook them up. Usually people just say they like a plot and move on, they don't use it themselves in their own fic. It's not like the veela stuff is actually canon so why use it over and over again?

Haha, affair fic, I will write one day. For now I must finish PLL fanfic for the love of fabulously gay Spencer. Look at her, she deserves it.
