Ok kids recently in the news there have been a number of parents arrested for what can only be described as "questionable parenting practices". Things like

Seriously. Even if a kid is legitimately being abused, you better know what you're doing when you report someone to the authorities. I grew up in an abusive home, and holy fuck, I have no clue what my parents would have done to me if someone had reported them for anything. I do know they would have blamed me, after they finished proving to the authorities what wonderful parents they were. Also, the foster system is no picnic. My parents fucked me up, down and sideways and I'm still not sure I'd have been better off if I'd been taken away from them.

The system is so complicated in its attempt to be simple. It is simply not that straightforward. Thanks for the rant - I'm chewing on it with my morning coffee! Feeling strongly about something is a GOOD thing.

This is a decent rant. People are no longer the village, but just the town gossip... thinking very little of anyone and rarely looking for the truth.
