I went swimming on the 4th of July and came home soaking wet. I thought I would just to "wet" theme challenge, but realized we haven't had a quote challenge in a while, and I'm eager to start another... sort of theme challenge that's been buzzing around my head for some time now (you'll see what that's about, in a moment). So I went digging ( Read more... )

Yay! The Tarot Challenge finally sees the light of day. *LOL* When did we think of this originally, back when we were doing the Virtue vs. Sins Challenges?

Oh, God, it was ages ago! probably even before the Virtues vs. Sins. Actually, I could have sworn that I had saved an email I sent to you with several ideas, but I can't seem to find it now. Ah, well! I'm glad we're finally doing it, too!

In regards to the Tarot challenge-is it acceptable to "merge" several different images into one to make the card?

Um.... Sure, why not? Just be sure they're from The Last Unicorn!

Oh man, I have to pick just one icon for the theme? That's gonna be hard!...
Sure we can't enter two? lol.

Um... Well, since you're so eager.... Yeah, sure why not two?

I am just curious...the notes say any text is acceptable, does that mean as long as we have "The fool" included in the text we can other legible words too?

The rules state:

Any text is acceptable, though quotes from The Last Unicorn, either the movie or the novel, are preferable.

So yes, icons with text other than the name of the card is acceptable. That being said, I do want to remind everyone that Tarot cards were made for an illiterate society, and thus heavily image-based. So while I would like to encourage our icon-makers to keep with this tradition, I won't throw out any icons with additional text on them.

Oh, and thanks for all the questions, folks! We came up with this challenge series relatively quickly, so it's good that we're working out some of the kinks and finer points now so we can have them for the remainder of this challenge series.
