Stepping outside, upon first glance you see blue skies above, look in any direction and all you can see is a thick gray horizon. And the smell. The first thing you notice is the smell. various causes. Mostly strong santa-anna winds that knocked down trees, which landed on power lines. A few were arson.

I knew about the santa ana winds/conditions but I haven't heard much about arson

You are right to worry about the thousands of animals in need of food. The HSUS has sent out a plea to its active members to call and email their legislators demanding that the Akaka amendment be added to the Farm Bill. This will ensure that all pets abandoned after events like this will not be sold to organizations that use them for testing purposes. The fact that this was happening at all disturbs me deeply. I'm glad you are well and are only inconvenienced by the whole chaotic disaster. We're thinking of you. Take care.
