This is just beautiful. I love the sparse language, how it echoes back the loss, how they build together slowly. This is my favorite guilty-pleasure pairing in this fandom, and you've done it perfect justice, and I thank you for writing it.

This is brilliant and so in keeping with my own thoughts. I thought there was something between them on Day 5 until Steven's death. I have written them together in many of my stories. I love the way you build it between two broken people.

Just when I had lost hope for ever reading about these two ever again, you present this wonderfully lengthy and heart breaking fic! And yes, I'm still not able to come to terms with the various first names pickd out for Johnson.... I'm weird I know, but I just can't think of her with any name other than just Johnson... XP

Anyways, I love how you've gotten them to come together. I particularly loved this bit too:
Johnson glances up, and, of all things, blanches. It is ridiculous and out of character and it is that, and only that, which makes Alice nod slightly in recognition.
And the whole joke of the travelling show & waitressing was an adorable touch! I hope you feel the need to write these two again some time soon! Thanks for sharing!
