We had a terrific Halloween!

I spent most of the day putting up the finishing touches on my hobbit lass costume. ( Read more... )

The kids must look forward to visiting your Halloween house! Thanks for sharing this fun night with us.

I've never been around dry ice. What a cool idea to try it!

We never had either. We had talked last year about getting a fog machine this year, but then realized we couldn't afford the expense. (The smaller machines aren't much, but the stuff to put in them adds up.) Then we saw the dry ice idea on YouTube. It was fun to try, but we'll know to gat more.

Great decorations! You guys really go all out for Halloween. I gave out candy but it really didn't feel like Halloween because it was so warm here. It was great for the kids in costume though because no one had to wear a coat and spoil their look. I had 357 trick or treaters. I think some came by more than once but even so, it was an excellent turn out.

It's been warm here too, but cooled off pleasantly as the night went on.

We never count ours, but I'm guesstimating somewhere between 250-300, maybe.

wow, your house is a lot of fun on Halloween! I love the fog idea! Oh wow, you guys still have trick or treaters at 9:30?? Ours is 6 to 8, although I never get any anyway!

We don't have set times in our little town. Here the kids start as early as 5-5:30, going to the churches for what they call "trunk-or-treat" (People of the church in the parking lots giving candy out of the trunk of their car, which some people even decorate.) Then about 6-6:30 they start going to the houses, usually in car or truck loads of kids, but a few of the older ones walk by themselves.

In previous years we've always run out of candy about 8:30, when only a few of the older stragglers were still out, but this year we still had candy and an occasional few people up until 9:30.

Wow! You really went to town on those decorations. I'm glad it went well for you and the weather was kind.

I'm hoping to see photo's of those hobbit feet and your costume.

I'll see what I can do. I plan to post a tutorial of the feet--I took notes and pictures of the process as I worked.

They are a little large, which I did on purpose, because my feet swell, but they were larger than I meant them to be anyway. Next year I will probably wear bulky socks with them.

There are a few pics of me taken by my husband and son, but none of them got my feet or my ears very well, and I have never had success with a selfie, LOL! But you can see them at my Flickr account.

That all looks and sounds great, Dreamflower! Wish there could have been a way to send all my extra candy (once again, we got 0 trick-or-treaters) across the country!

Your costume sound fabulous!

I wish you'd had trick or treaters! It's so much fun. But it seems to be very much a local things; some places seem to get lots, and others get only a few or none.
