I was happy to remember about that dream of Bilbo's, too! I used it in a short Tol Eressea piece I wrote. It's really interesting about the difference between dreams in The Hobbit and LOTR.

No comment on "The Sight"...

But man, this stuff's interesting! And now you've got me wanting to write weird dreams all over again...

Although - let me add that Frodo did have at least one dream along the lines of Bilbo's: when he saw Gandalf pacing in Orthanc! The timing didn't line up perfectly, but it worked.

Yes, it was very close in time, though not quite so immediate in distance!

Well, it at least gave Gandalf time to plan a rescue!

Dreams were apparently a big deal with JRRT! He included them in a lot of his stuff!
