I love peonies--yours is very beautiful. I quite like the tubs you've planted your edibles in, too. And I look forward to seeing your little 'tapestry garden' with its tree--what a neat idea!
We had no idea what the plant by our back door was. There were no blooms last year, and my husband thought it might be a weed, so he cut it back aggressively. Perhaps that's why it came back and bloomed this year!
As soon as he got me that little unicorn, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I've been a unicorn collector since college.
(Oh, and by the way-- the tub I use for my garden bed? That's a metal cattle trough from a farm supply store that I painted!)
As a unicorn lover, I especially liked your idea to recreate the tapestry. But what really got me was your choice of flowers for that bed. Hmmm, I wonder why you chose those particular varieties...
*grin* I've collected unicorns since 1972, but this was the first "outdoor" unicorn in my collection. (So far you are the only one to have noticed the er, hobbity nature of the flowers!)
Our roses were already planted when we moved in, so that was a good thing! Have you looked into the miniature roses? When we lived in Mississippi, we had a beautiful mini-rose bush that grew in a tub by our front porch. It lived for many years. And it was very inexpensive to begin with.
Lovely flowers! And I've seen those advertisements for growing tomatoes upside down but have never tried it myself. I didn't get any tomatoes this year... life's a little to frantic with other things for tending them this year, unfortunately. I do love a homegrown tomato.
We didn't bother with the kits that they sell. Those are common paint buckets with a hole cut in the bottom! ($4 bucks apiece as opposed to $19.99+shipping for the kits!) They are virtually trouble-free once they are hung up-- just need watering and then picking when they start to bear!
