What a wonderful story. Trotter has certainly found a respected and appreciated place among the Dunedain.

One thing...

many of them had the same tunes as songs I knew in the Shire, though the tunes were different.

Did you mean to use the word 'tunes' twice?

Yep. Well he was referred to as a Ranger in "Return of the Shadow", so far be it from me to argue, LOL!

Very casual. I think he knew Trotter would not want a big deal made of it, and he also wanted to leave him feeling free to go back to the Shire if he wished.
