I had originally planned *two* stories, one for each of the byrdings but time got away from me, and I was only able to finish the one. So I'll save the other for another occasion.
He was going to carry Bilbo, but the lad gave him a stern look. “I can walk, Papa! I’m going to be *five*!”
This is a delightful story! I love the gentle healing, the party, the guests, the gifts... and our excited lad! Awwww, wee Bilbo is such a cutie. And we get to see the magical studs at work! What a treat.
What a delightful little story! I loved the healing and the sweetness of Bilbo. He is SO very recognizable as Bilbo, even as a wee little lad here! :-)
Oh, wow, thank you! I did want him to come across as the child who would grow up into the Bilbo he became, if you know what I mean! I'm so happy you think I succeeded!
Ear infections stink, especially when they almost ruin birthdays. This story is so sweet, though, with the determination that's part of young Bilbo's personality very apparent, and what fun to see the "Old Took" as a regular parent/grandparent, rather than some ancient legend!
They *do* stink! And they are so common for young children, it seemed the sort of ailment he might get.
I'm glad little Bilbo came across as "Bilbo-y", LOL! And yes, it was fun writing the Old Took that way--just Bella's father and little Bilbo's Grandfather.
