It's not "Reverse-Racism"...It's Racism!!!

As you all know, I'm a big fan of racial humor. Let's be honest, we're all a little racist, sexist, prejudiced and bigoted on the inside. But turnabout is always fair play, and altaeron turned me on to a wonderful site that I just cannot stop reading.

It's The Full List of Stuff White People Like, and it's incredibly offensive to white people, and ( Read more... )

Ha, I can't believe some people think that's racism and are bitching about it in the comments.

What gets me is how some of the commenters immediately start defending anything they do that is listed on the website, as if the blog is supposed to be a serious criticism of those "white-only" behaviors.

It's like you're oppressed because people are saying you like sushi or something. WHAT? That's a loooot different from real ingrained NEGATIVE stereotypes that non-white folks have to deal with daily. :PAnd it's just as well white people have a big set of stereotypes, too! I hate it when folks think white = default race for everything.

Ever since I added the Crooks and Liars feed to my LJ about two weeks ago, my friends page has been swamped with posts, and I've missed out on a lot of friends' posts in the chaos.

I think I'm going to get rid of it, and just visit the website separately, but you're the one that turned me on to C&L in the first place, and for that I thank you. :-)

Wow, how weird, I'm actually reading that site right now! My roommate has been talking about it for a while and I finally decided to check it out.

Gotta say, though, I'd probably be one of the defensive people you're making fun of, because I feel like it's really inaccurate. Most of the things they talk about are more of yuppie/upper class/hipster territory than "all white people". Like they seem to assume that white people live off their parents, drink tea constantly (because China doesn't love tea?), and don't own TVs YET SOMEHOW watch Colbert Report anyway.

I dunno. I went in there ready for some gold, but so far it's really disappointing. There are stereotypical white person things that he mentions (Apple products, Asian girls, the Oscars), but this guy is mostly focusing on WASPs, and therefore he misses more than hits.

My suggestion: "Chinese" food

I understand your point; I also don't find some of the posts particularly entertaining or relevant. But the one's I do find relevant, or posts that relate to my behavior are hilarious spoofs. But if I can't relate to what they're talking about, it's kind of weak.

There's a difference between finding a comedic site offensive, versus finding the comedic site inaccurate, in my opinion. It seems you probably feel more of the latter than the former, which I really don't have a problem with.

No I definitely don't find it offensive, unless you count that I'm kinda offended he thinks all white people are rich hipsters.
