OK, I haven't read all the links yet but I just wanted to say that I am quite literally open-mouthed at the NYC condom arrest link. This was a city that had a massive HIV/AIDS epidemic and they arrest people for carrying condoms?! Seriously?!?

Wow. I knew about the syringes (not uncommon in the US) but I really hadn't realised they were using condoms as a means of "proving" involvement in sex work. Sheesh.
