Non-parent: Um. What's that stain?
Parent: Oh, that. It's just blood.
Non-parent: Blood?!
Parent: It's Ok, it's almost certainly children's blood. Couldn't tell you which one though. [self-deprecatory chuckle]
Non-parent: o_O

Non parents and sadly some parents think little kids knees should be scrape and graze free, and look askance when a parent just kisses a child's scrapes and sends them back to play.

My knees were always skinned as a child, think it's a sign of an happy, active child to get minor injuries. I would worry if they never got muddy or hurt.

Yes - very-minor injuries and plenty of mud and mess seem important parts of a good childhood to me.
