Cats are ornery

Negative results: despite several attempts to engage them, my cats are entirely unmoved by either Music for Cats or the rotating snakes illusion.

They do! And cucumber, and bread. They regularly raid the compost/kitchen scraps bins in the kitchen and drag their conquests all over the kitchen. We're veggie; there's never meat or fish residues. But they keep looking all the same. Shredding bread is, apparently, the best thing ever.
