Nursery managementspeak strikes again

Another triumph of communication from **FIXME's nursery. It's a letter saying that they're thinking of moving him up to the next room. Their claim that this is based purely on an assessment of his personal, individual needs and developmental stage would have been stronger if ( Read more... )

The nursery A is about to go to was pretty open about the fact that they have 32 places in 3 rooms, almost invariably all filled, and allocate as best they can and instead try to make sure the activities are appropriate to the children in the room, seeing as moving the child isn't often an option until the pre-schoolers go to school.

The quatlet will be one of the youngest of the dozen in the baby room when he starts in August(10 1/2 months), but in September they'll have about 3 younger ones. The current babies vary in moving ability but all seem entertained and happy.

Fingers crossed...

Communication is essential. child's nursery always talked to us, a lot, about moving up schedules; but also were rigorous about numbers so that everyone who needed to go up did so. In fact, if anything, Child went into the 2s from toddlers about a month early, in developmental terms, but he went with his friends, which - after discussion - we felt was probably the best option.

Communication makes all the difference.

p.s., so sorry about the sleep deprivation. any extended family available to give people some slack? it's amazing what a third grownup, or a night or two away for mama+baby, can do ...

Ha. They moved Zach up early because he was so naughty that they couldn't handle him in the baby room any longer! Mind you, it doesn't help that endlessly telling the deaf kid 'NO' tends not to work as a long term strategy for discipline.

I'm 100% sure that **FIXME will love moving into the older room but you are right, it worries me when the nursery can't seem to get the small details about my child correct. You have to put a great deal of faith in these people to care for your child and small errors like this can shake it, a little.

And oh the sleep deprivation. Gods, I don't think we will ever be free of it and, from what I can gather, we get a little more sleep than you both. You have my unending sympathy.

Letting 'the dishes stand unwashed for a day' is patronising and shows very little understanding of what long term sleep deprivation is like. And being told that 'your child will grow out of it' is just a complete and barefaced lie. Gits.
