The interrupting cow joke is one of my favourites. Little **FIXME will love it too, once he's learned the pattern of knock-knock jokes.

Yes. He *will* love it. Or he has a rather grim childhood ahead :-)

Tell me that you had some non-investment reason for installing such a thing? Your 19 year old self would be ashamed.

Send me the address of the leaders of the international anarcho syndicalist movement, I'm turning you in if an explanation is not forthcoming?

On the other hand your 19 year old self told me both those jokes so some things don't change.

Some jokes get funnier the more you tell them. Which I believe I may have noted at some points in the past.

I can reassure you that I own no shares! Except very indirectly as a member of my work pension scheme - and even there my entitlement is based on my length of service and final salary, not the value of the investment portfolio ( ... )

And then the Federal Reserve behave like total wazzocks, & unsurprisingly it does no bloody good whatsoever. An acquaintance of mine who shall remain nameless said "We are gorging ourselves on tequila & cheap speed in the crazed hope that we can stay up & keep partying forever."

It does look a bit headless-chicken-y. Ben Bernanke is turning out far too interesting for what you'd really want from a central banker. OTOH, Warren Buffett was rumoured to be diving back in to equities big time before this latest volatility, and he's done exceptionally well by making just that sort of move.

I wouldn't like to put money on it either way. Just as well I'm not an investment banker :-)

*laughs* I could tell you what days of the week I look after her but that'd be straying in to TMI territory. ;-)
