And so a long term comes to an end, a term dominated by marking and more arguments over marks and extensions than I can remember, with many of those arising from students I have been generous to. I don't think I've been any harsher than normal, but entitlement is all over the place. I feel micromanaged, second guessed and undermined

Now I understand your fb status. I am quickly learning that generousity brings greater abuse of that generousity later, but if I am not generous people fail and look at me sadly and tell me that their grandmother died, their uncle died, they are going through a divorce etc etc... and I am nice because I know life is horrible. One day I might have to start not being nice :-(
