I just spent a good portion of my lunch break eating this story instead of my food! I am madly in love with dystopian AUs and your story was awesome! You really managed to capture what I had in mind with my prompt, thank you so so much for writing this!

I'm glad you liked this tale, Tori_gingerfox! And welcome to the community!

I had way too much fun re-watching those movies, and your prompts! I loved them all, but I'm a sucker for anything dystopian. ;)

Again, glad you liked it, and I LOVED MINE! Thank you!

what a fabulous dystopian world you've created post-Battle! very believable! the Muggles do have the tech to create such powerful neutralizers. and alas, they really ARE trigger-happy like the DEs.

i love how Snape continues to be a double-agent, even now. and his willingness to use Draco to help in his plans is very much IC, though, of course, the grey areas of morality... i think it's going to take some time for Draco to come to terms with such violations upon his person once again.

as always, strong, fiesty, resourceful, no-nonsense Hermione is the source of reason in this crazy world! LOVE your Luna!

if you are considering continuing your story, i'd very much be interested! :) bravo!

Thank you so much, Dormiensa! I toyed with making it an expose on today society (but dear god, it's worse than a dystopian future, I think), but I think I slipped a few ideas in there.

And yes, I think Muggles would go all 1984 on something like that, or even Puritanical. I love Snape and him as the head of the Unit just fit - he's still saving people, even though nobody acknowledges it.

I think Hermione would become very hardened, like her time on the run with the boys. And she would mother everyone, of course.

You know, my beta said it would make a good tv series! LOL And yeah, this gives me lots to play with. So, I just might!

Thank you again, Dormiensa! *squish*

Fabulous! I have always admired your dystopian worlds for the completeness, and the way you mix a little hope into the despair. It's so logical to believe the Muggles would have devised technological means to combat magical folks. And Snape being a force for good in the snakes' pit-- how in character of him! Thank you for sharing your creativity once again.

Thank you!

You know me, I can't leave Snape out. ;) And of course, he gets no credit, poor git. And yes, I think the Muggles would be so overzealous to eradicate that which they perceive as a threat without really understanding what was happening. A sad commentary on today's society.

I'm an idealist at heart, so I have to have that glimpse of hope, or I'll just depress myself. Ugh. LOL

I'm glad you liked the story, StGulik, and thank you for the lovely comments!

I do love a good Voldemort!wins AU, and this one's brilliant! I love the way it starts with

The History goes like this:

which takes us right into a real world, where people have lived through horrors and tried to make sense of them.

I loved the way you made me suspect the nature and purpose of Draco's cuff right from the outset, and I loved the irony of a pure-blood's being tricked into thinking he's a Muggle, and hunting witches and wizards. (I loved this line:

You are uniquely qualified to ferret out wizards and witches...

LOL!)

I loved the way you incorporated so much from canon -- not just Draco's memories but also the crazy tent! I loved your Luna, in both guises, and your tough Hermione. And I loved the happy ending, with Draco discovering he still has a mother, and has friends, and has a new, hopeful destiny.

And you crammed it all into 8000 words!

You know, I hadn't really thought of it as a Voldemort!wins AU until you pointed it out! LOL But yeah, that's kinda what happened.

You don't know how much I cut, seriously, to whittle it down to 8K. I wanted to include so many things, like more memories, but I think it got the point across. I always like the trope of 'hiding in plain sight', and it worked here for Draco and especially Snape. I mean, to have the most Pure-blood of wizards hunting his own kind? Yeah, that's messed up!

Thank you for holding this fest, year after year, it's one of the first ones I participated in when I first started in this fandom. *squish*

Voldemort(&co)!(temporarily)wins... I was oversimplifying a bit!

You could post the longer version at AO3. I'll be setting up a new collection tomorrow.

*Squishes* back! One of the best things about this fest is that we have regulars. (And I think the newer participants enjoy being paired with them).

This was a wonderful reimagining of a dystopian A/U world combined with a remix of two beloved scifi favourites. Truly brilliant characterizations, pacing, plot! I would love an epilogue, if you're up for it post-fest...or perhaps an expansion on this universe, with many more chapters? I will keep my fingers crossed, and in the meantime, I will re-read and immerse myself in this fantastic fic again and again! <3

I absolutely love V for Vendetta and the Blade Runner series! I could so see Draco as K, finding out that he's not what he thought. Throw in a little 1984 and you've got a dystopian nightmarish concoction. I shudder at the thought.

There was also a movie that I thought about borrowing from, Equilibrium, about the suppression of emotion, but didn't think it would work too well here. But, again, something to incorporate in the future.

My beta said she'd like to see this as a tv series, and I cut out so much to make it to 8K that I just might have to add more in the future. ;)

Thanks, RZZMG for the lovely comments!
