I absolutely love everything about this story.

The vicious circle of red tape is so funny (and yet rings so true!). And it makes sense that Draco would react by looking after the baby (and be good at it), because family's such a big thing for the Malfoys, but that Hermione would try to re-organise the Ministry.

I love this bit:

“We should name her,” he said, walking towards the desk and looking through the piles of books.

“Name who?”

“The peacock on the verandah.”

And this:

Hermione blew out a hard sigh. “I fucked up, didn’t I?”

Draco placed his hands over Eliza’s ears, “Oi! Innocent ears.”

And the ending, with the silly joke & the laughter, is perfect :-)

Thank you!!! This was an amazing read, I loved the bureaucracy and how Hermione was poised to charge in like an Erumpent on the war path before Draco could talk some sense into her.

I was a bit on edge through the whole story wondering about the baby's parents - the mother getting stuck in the Ministry bureaucracy from the other side, as it were, was a very neat way to explain their absence.

“... after a quick shrinking charm, was able to get everything packed”- I would have killed for a decent shrinking charm rather than bringing the whole house with me at the baby stage! I don't suppose there is a Muggle version...?

The muggle version are siblings. My backpacks were 70% baby items when I was growing up.

I'm just happy I did your prompts justice.

I enjoyed this fic. Hermione and Draco have evolved and somehow embody each other's House characteristics (Hermione is Slytherin-like in her machinations around bureaucratic red tape while Draco seems more Gryffindor-like with his care of The Baby and insistence on Hermione taking care not to ruin people's lives with her machinations). I like that they don't remain with their high school mindset (except for Hermione but she changes her mind on Draco).

One of my favorite lines is this: "Sometimes, in his darker secret moments, when he wasn’t fully aware of his thoughts, Granger would sneak into his daydreams. A kinder, softer version of her at least. One who laughed the way she did when they were at school."

Kudos! Adding to my memories.

Hi, thank you so much for the comment!

I am really glad you LOL'd. That's all I want from my fics. If I amused, I am satisfied.

I will definitely be looking at posting more in the coming months. They will be posted to my AO3 and Tumblr (same user name).
