This was a lovely story! I am especially glad that Hermione didn't influence Draco's remembering in any way. It was all him. .. him and that darned many - great aunt!

Very sweet, Draco's return was. Loved that it was Mrs. Weasley who made sure they remarried before the baby.
Lol cute!

Thank you. The Hermione I imagined in this story couldn't have influenced him, mainly because as much as she wanted to know why he had left her, she was far too scared to find out. Also, if she had done, Draco's great aunt wouldn't have made an appearance! :P

I'm glad you liked it.

Thank you! It's funny though, because when I read the prompts I could see them both being rather humorous, although I didn't quite manage it as I had originally planned. It could be that I was in a generally happier mood when I saw the prompts than when I sat down to write the story.

Merlin, I was so afraid that this story would have an unhappy ending!

I like the way, at each stage, you show us how both characters are feeling, so we really experience the gulf between them.

I love the way Draco finally pieces things together, sensing that something is wrong from the way his parents are treating him -- I love this passage:

... it was only several days into his visit when he realised that he was actually a grown man now. Before, when he thought about going home for the holidays, it'd never even occurred to him that he was probably no longer living at the Manor with his parents.

-- and nutmeg, and the strange behaviour of the paintings.

And I love the way the ending is so calm, with Draco and Hermione sitting on the grass together, enjoying 'normality'.

(I would love to read a prequel, showing how Draco was persuaded to ask for a divorce).

I can only write unhappy endings if the whole story is unhappy, I think! :P But I'm kind of glad that I worried you, maybe? I can't be sure actually.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it - everything with his parents (the realisation, the nutmeg, the paintings) just came about randomly as I was writing. I love it when that happens and I'm glad you especially liked that part.

(I had originally planned on including more information about their divorce in this story, but didn't feel like I would do it justice if I didn't give it space, and I also didn't want to give it too much space since it was about them finding their way back to each other. I am very bad at writing sequels or prequels, but I might eventually give it a go if you remind me.)

"I am so sorry," he said.

Hermione didn't know how to reply, but when he seemed to crumble in front of her, she easily stepped forward to wrap her arms around him. He needed her, and regardless of how much pain she would suffer at the end of it, she could not stand to see him in any.

He kissed her, his lips pressing against hers in between mumblings of "sorry" and "forgive me". She did, not fully knowing what it was she was forgiving.

Any story that has a vulnerable Draco crumbling in front of Hermione and begging for forgiveness (and her giving it, of course) is a lovely story in my opinion. :)
