Some D/Hr research

Apr 06, 2009 02:31

Hi all.

I'm doing a media criticism paper on fandom culture and I've specifically chosen to do it on the D/Hr ship for Harry Potter. As someone who used to be very active in the D/Hr fandom, I thought it'd be really interesting to write about it, not necessary through a fan's eyes, but more because I'm comfortable talking about something I have ( Read more... )

Random reply because I'm just curious... did your mental picture of the characters have any semblance to the art for each chapter?

Damn, I just realized I read the books before the movies and I have NO idea how I imagined them all before the movies came out!

Not at all. My copy didn't even have any art in it. I just got a mental picture in my head from JKR's description.

LOL.

- When did you get into the Harry Potter verse? More specifically, when did you get into the D/Hr section of the fandom?

I was probably 12 when I started reading the books (I can't really remember), and I was definitely 14 when I started reading D/Hr.

- What about D/Hr attracts you to the pairing? Why do you have more affinity for this pair than you do others?
I love reading the ways people get the two of them together - a seemingly impossible task, but some people do it beautifully. Their history of hatred for each other makes for some fantastic angry sex, too :P

- Have you contributed to fandom? If so, in what way(s)?
I used to make icons.

- If you don't mind, please link to your personal favorite piece of art/writing from another fan.
Happy Hour... Better than some published books I've read ( ... )

Um! HI. I just wanted to say that it is really cool that you are just over the Mississippi from me. That is all.

And OMG, Cards fans are ridiculous sleeping in tents to get Opening Day tickets when it is SNOWING GERBILS outside. Seriously.

That is really all.

Stay Rad.
