It...isn't? I guess I could see how people would only know that Dick is Bruce's youthful ward. I kinda thought the circus background was common knowledge though. Or blindly obvious thanks to that costume.

See, someone is writing BSG as DCU fic. With Lee Adama as Nightwing. And the fic references "The Flying Adamas" and their trapeze act. And all the other commenters were like "ZOMG, what a brilliant way to work in Lee's talent in the air!" And I was like "...but... that's... Nightwing canon..."
