Crybaby

Feb 27, 2007 14:47

One aspect of parenting that I wasn't prepared for was the crying. Every day the tears flow over the tiniest little things. Sometimes the waterworks start with no apparent provocation at all.

Did I mention I'm refering to myself?

Seriously, I've got this weepy thing going on and it's freaking me out! I cry at TV, which I never used to do. ( Read more... )

Aww... even though you can't blame hormones, you probably have been sleeping a lot less than usual. Lack of sleep is what makes me emotional. When I was sick a lot in December I would always cry at Christmasy commercials. Hehe.

I can't really blame sleep deprivation. Currently, DP only wakes up once during the night and Drama King typically handles that feeding. So I'm a crybaby despite being well-rested and blessed with some sort of miracle newborn.

As someone who's had the title of Sucky McCrypants for years, all I can say is "Welcome to the club!"

Maybe when you're holding DP, he puts pressure on your emotional switch. Those things are finnicky.

Right now I'm holding DP and he's cracking me up with an awesome showing of Tiny Lips!

Hey, you're a mom!

I don't always cry at the sweet things, but I always cry at child peril. I can no longer watch horror movies, crime shows, or anything where little kids have any bad happen to them.

I imagine, when Small Person is grown, I might be okay again. But probably not.

And Love You Forever freaks me out. People should not crawl through other people's windows at night. It's just weird. *shudder* Sweet, but weird.

The mom crawling through the window is exactly the sort of thing that a month ago I would have mocked but now triggers the waterworks.

There are some Munsch stories that are either adored or give one the creeps. Murmel, Murmel, Murmel is another. It's a metaphor for adoption, but some people find the whole "little girl finding a baby in a hole she dug in her backyard" a little disturbing. I'm with Wraithgirl on the Forever one, and likewise with child peril in movies. The chiro I work with found the same thing. She and her hubby used to be big L&O, CSI fans, UNTIL they became parents, then it hit a little too close to home.

We went to see Babel a couple of weeks ago. DK had a pretty rough time with that since it's nothing but kids in peril.

I like the idea that my body's gone pseudo-postpartum on me. Because that is a cool theory. Besides, if it's hormones that means eventually it'll go away.

I hear what you're saying, but based on the horror stories I've heard from the other moms in my neighbourhood, spontaneous crying is getting off easy.

You may have hit on something with the not eating well. I have had more than my fair share of frozen entrees this past week. I can't really blame sleep deprivation. DP only wakes up once a night and DK handles it, so I typically get 7-8 hours a night.
