if i dont update this anymore, will it delete? i dont want it to delete.

I don't think they ever ever ever delete a journal. I've seen journals that haven't been updated in years.

New clients are being created for LJ all the time-- some are designed so they can automatically archive your journal for you. This one called LochJournal has that feature, but so far hasn't worked with my journal. If you keep your fingers crossed, I'll bet they'll come up with some software that can back up everything to your computer.
