My country's always been in some war or another. I'm hoping we find peace soon, now that the government has been overthrown.

It will be a difficult road, but your determination will serve you well.

I hope so. I don't want my betrothed to have to go back to fight, and I'm afraid he might have to.

Whatever the future holds, he will be fortunate to have you at his side.

I don't think you're a coward at all. You're fighting for peace and that brings much more honor than fighting for it's own sake.

Thank you.
It seems cruel that we must fight in order to achieve peace.

It is cruel. I don't like fighting, I hate war, but I think if there's a reason to fight, it's to defend.
But all wars do end. I hope yours does soon.

And yet honour is deemed yours when you fight for Gondor, whether you desire it or not.
War makes corpses of men, but I do believe they are lucky to perish with such, rather than dying with nothing at all.

Not so, my lady. Men, women and children suffer equally in dark days such as these.

And yet in their deaths women and children are oft remembered as mere victims of war.

We are all victims of war when it is not of our choosing.

The war itself isn't where the honor or glory comes from. War itself is death, destruction, chaos and blood.
It's what your fighting for that can make it worth it. And from the sound of things, you're a honorable man given your reasons for fighting.
Thinking war is a nasty piece of work is far from cowardly. Realistic is what I'd call it.

Life makes corpses of us all. War just does it a little faster and less pleasantly. But we can't escape it, given the nature of humans.

You speak as if you are not a human yourself.

I'm neither here nor there. Not really human, but not quite to not human yet.
