[Icon aside, Kanna is wearing clothes in this. The back is just pulled down enough to let her wings spread, and since she's facing the camera, no indecency is involved.

She clears her throat.]Community, it's good to speak to you again. I have another question ( Read more... )

Rap? It's a music style where rhyming lyrics are spoken fast instead of being sung. Not a fan of it myself, so that's really all I know about it.

How is it music if you don't sing?

Apparently, according to the modern music industry, saying something fast in rhyme is music, as long as it has a back beat. Like I said, it's really not my cup of tea.

I might just need to hear it to understand.

Not necessarily, but my kids like it. Or Astor does at least.

The best way to explain is by example. Rap is almost like musical poetry.

I don't know much poetry that hurts your eyes like that first video...

Why does he go quiet in the middle of words?

I apologize, I hope it wasn't painful for you.

It's a stylistic move. Some of them almost seem to shout, rappers I mean. Others whisper.

It's just strange for me. Video wasn't around when I was alive.

That's very strange. It's important to be heard if you're singing, isn't it?

Rap is a form of lyric poetry common during the early twenty-first century.

That's the current time, I think. It's difficult to keep track of time in the outside world.

Try to keep any sort of universal calender in a place where you leave for a week and it takes a hundred years.

But Lyric poetry is an ancient art form. Though 'rap' did not survive into my time, the overall style survived into my time and had its beginnings in the early Mediterranean cultures some 3000 years before your time.

I learned some poetry while I was alive. None of them had music videos.

It's like talking instead of singing.

Then it's like storytelling.

I never really thought about it that way.

Uraha used to make me learn to recite poetry and stories and punish me if I couldn't keep them straight.
