[Aria looks almost normal when she first comes into the frame. She's dressed for a dance, but is mostly otherwise composed. Until she starts speaking in the sort of tone where she's too drunk to determine whether she's happy, sad or somewhere in-between.]So. Guess who doesn't remember this place existing. At all. Just when I was getting my head ( Read more... )

Commander Spock's been actin' drunk lately too. I'd say it's probably the community's fault.

[And guess who only half remembers talking to Ezra, thanks to being terribly medicated at the time.]

I'm... no' entirely sure I follow you. What do you mean, weird?

Well.

[A pause. How does she phrase this?]

I admit to drinking, that's fine. But I date someone I'm not supposed to, which is just as not legal, that's an issue.

Aye, that's about the sum of it. Look, it's like this. You drinkin' doesn't hurt anything, s'long as you're responsible with it. Datin' someone you're not supposed to's a whole different ballgame.

Why? Why does it have to be different? We can be just as responsible as I can when I'm drinking. It's still risky if I'm not careful. So why the distinction?

Because drinkin' a month or two south o' proper gets you a slap on the wrist if you get caught.

[Except, y'know, American drinking age is a bit higher. Just a bit.]

Datin' someone you shouldn't? Loses him his job, gets him put on trial if your parents decide they want t'press charges... I'm not tryin' t'lecture you here, alright. I know you already know all of this. The difference is that the consequences o' gettin' caught datin' Ezra are far more severe for both o' you than the consequences o' gettin' caught doin' a little drinkin'. Not t'mention the differences in risks, but we're no' havin' that conversation.

Except all of that depends on us getting caught. And it's not just a month or two.

But, fine. It's different, because you say it is.

[She's not normally so blunt, but even fake drunk she's a little less reserved in what she says]

It is different, an' we can talk more about why when you've sobered up a bit.

[He pauses, then, for a moment.]

No' just a month or two... Oh. Right. You're American. I forgot.

I know what I'm doing.

Yeah. There's still a few years before that becomes legal for me.

[Well, he's obviously not going to win this argument, no matter how much he tries, so.]

Just promise me you'll be careful. And stay safe.

An' make sure you get yourself hydrated, aye? You'll want t'avoid a hangover, if you can.

I will. Though...can you get a hangover when you haven't actually drunk anything?

Well I guess I'll soon find out.

...how is it my life that this is an actually valid question?
