Betrayal.

There's no excuse.

No excuse at all?

Well, first, what do you consider betrayal to be, exactly?

Working against your country, or someone that you're supposed to be sided with.

And if you become aware that your country or allies are in the wrong?

I hate to even bring it up, but I can think of no circumstances in which rape is acceptable.

You make a fantastic point, Issei-san.

As far as whether that automatically condemns them to being a bad person... I don't know. I believe that even if someone were to commit such an act, they could eventually grow into a person who would be repulsed by his own actions; such a person could be considered a good person. Still, that person would be undoubtedly a bad person at the time the act was committed.

...I talk too much. My apologies.

Not at all.

I have already formed my own beliefs on such matters. I would not haves asked if I wasn't curious to hear what others thought on them.

So they could be a good person, who has done bad things in their past?

... I'm going to have to agree with Azula. Betrayal is the worst possible thing to do. I think I heard of a line from a play on Earth - "Betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope."

The only thing I can think of that would make it acceptable is if the people being betrayed are in the wrong, and can't be made to see it or to change.

"One should rather die than be betrayed." It is a very personal issue with a very personal answer.

Though it is smart to realize that there are cases in which it is necessary.

Thinking in absolutes is almost never a good plan. Too easy to get blindsided by something that doesn't fit.

What if the animal was in pain?

A mercy killing is understandable. I meant more in the vein of senselessly harming an animal.

There are many situations which require harming an animal. If one is being attacked, there is little else they can do.

... However, your answer is something I did not expect. It... is somewhat reassuring, though.

Yeah.

The crime is bad enough. Pinning it on someone else - that's ruining two lives.
