What do you mean by "feds"? We're part of the United Federation of Planets, and torture hasn't ever been legal in our system. In Earth's past, we went through some dark times, but that's in the past.

Oh. Didn't mean to offend ya or nothin'. Just that the feds here, well their official name is the Alliance. They ain't good people. I got a friend who they experimented on. Cut into her brain and such. Made her kinda crazy. They're still chasin' after her.
