[anon, locked from Lina and Gourry]

How many people here have run into other members who are from their world, but in the past? I know I'm not the only one it's happened to.

Has anyone ever felt the urge to tell them about what's going to happen? Or to try to get to their timeline and prevent something that happened there?

I have. I did want to say something...but it could have really messed things up.

I know. That's what I'm afraid of.

On the other hand, if I do one thing I might be able to save the world from being destroyed at least two or three times. Maybe I can still track that statue - no, of course not. Lina put that blocking spell on it...

If your world was destroyed...how are you here?

I'm sorry, I meant nearly destroyed. It's been a close thing each time, and there were a lot of deaths even though it managed to scrape through.

And I can't help thinking that even if I don't change things, this time around they might not be so lucky.

I know, I know. Still, I can't help wondering... if the right actions were taken, a lot of suffering could be prevented. Something's due to happen soon that a lot of people would say ought to be stopped no matter the cost.

I don't know. I've never been too clear on how it works...

It might not be the past. It might be a different world that goes through the same things.

Don't do it. You could shift a person's Destiny.

IN A WAY YOU COULD NOT POSSIBLY IMAGINE!

It does not mean the outcome could possibly come out how you hope.

It could come out far worse.

You're probably right. Still, I can't help wondering... it seems like such a small change, but if it went right, so much suffering could be prevented.

You'd be surpised a small change could actually make it worse rather then better. Even if you have the intentions on making whatever it is you want to change, go right.

Changing the past fate of others is not to be in the hands of any individual no matter how much they may think they can handle it.

It is too great a responsibly even for myself.

Two powerful demon lords and a deranged sorcerer all nearly manage to destroy the world as a result of the events I'm contemplating changing. They're only stopped by far too much luck and the whim of a far more powerful being, and there's a lot of suffering and a lot of lives lost because of it.

I think I see a way that could prevent them coming to power at all. I could save countless lives... all I'd have to do is make sure the first of them wouldn't get his hands on one small artifact. I could take it to another world, or even just drop it in a volcano or something.

Maybe? What do you mean, Kano?

I mean stuff sounds familiar, but it's so far into the past that I can't tell if it's really the same world I'm from. I'm probably just reading too much into things, huh?

I don't know. Maybe. My world has really long records, what with one thing and another, so deja vu generally has a source around here.

I haven't had this experience dear, but some things do need to happen how they happen. If things have come through in your timeline, what right do you have to affect the choices made in another?

I think I see a way that could prevent a lot of the suffering in my timeline. It involves something that the people involved will have no way of doing until it's far too late.

But at what cost my dear? There may have been suffering, but what was gained from it? What choices were made, what people were forged or changed in it all?

Can you see how these events impacted all of the world?

I can see that one of the world's greatest cities was razed by a demented sorcerer because of the events unfolding here, leaving only one young girl as a survivor. I can see that the world was nearly destroyed thrice - each time only averted with a phenomenal amount of luck.

I can see that a young man who'd already lost the closest thing he ever had to a father watching his two oldest and closest friends die before his eyes.
