How does one keep a large group of children amused?

The elder ones would probably be able to help you out, some, in regards to the younger. If you can arrange games of Red Rover or Tag, something of the like, and get the older ones involved, their juniors will most likely follow suit.

I know what Tag is but can you explain Red Rover...? It does sound like a good idea.

Ah -- the children form two lines, facing each other, and hold hands and one side says "red rover, red rover, let [blank] come over," only they call the name of someone on the other side, and that child runs at the other line, trying to break through where the children are holding hands. If they succeed, they get to take back one child from the opposing team to be on their side. If they fail, they join the other team.

With a large group, organizing a game of some sort is probably best. Get the oldest ones to help you.
