I have a suggestion for the community at large. Being that we have a consistent influx of new members - moreso than usual, lately, according to Foaly's numbers - I was thinking it would be far simpler if we made one solid post that could be referenced to introduce them to the more unique side of the community ( Read more... )

It would certainly help out those who find themselves explaining things to new member after new member. I don't see why not.

Thanks for your input. If enough people are interested, I'll get started.

I was hoping you'd give me some help.

What, don't tell me you've missed the comic book heroes throwing insults at one another.

Nothing like an in-depth guide to make that realization simpler. Or, I could omit that bit, since it doesn't appear to be true for everyone.

I really can't name specifics, but I've met several people who I've never heard of in works of fiction - human or otherwise.

Being told the truth about this place and viruses when you find it is a tradition!

You can't just get rid of that.

I'm not saying not to tell them, just that it might be more convenient to just write it all up once and be done with it, and link back to that post whenever necessary.

Hmm... Wouldn't that make people stop joining this place, then? I'd never join a place that said they had viruses and other crazy stuff. Letting them find out slowly might be better.

People usually inform them in their introductory post anyway, this would just be something that those people could link rather than type out in depth every time.

Still, I think I'd believe in what a lot of people say rather than a single post. I get your point, but it's not that bad to explain every time, sometimes.

True, there's credibility to be considered. You make a good point.
