Please tell me if I've posted this already. It's hard to believe I haven't.

Yeah, I'm behind in my movie posts. Yes, I did see it on opening night. And yes, there is a strong possibility I pulled my polyester Star Trek: Deep Space Nine uniform out of the closet.

"Star Trek's" only redeeming quality was the one I least expected - the recasts. Pine was pretty good as Kirk and Sylar was amazing as Spock.

But for the Granite-Chip Ewok and the baffling fucking Spock/Uhuru kiss, it might not have been completely terrible.

I didn't mind the uglier Ewok, but I wasn't a big fan of the Mr. I'm-Just-Named-Scotty.

I agree with you on the casting. Ranges from good to excellent.

Oh god, I forgot about that lame retcon in the sea of lame retcons.

Also the fucking Slipknot/Mudvayne video Romulans were stupid. YOU CAN TELL WE'RE EVIL BECAUSE OF OUR AWESOME TATTOOS THAT WE GOT IN SPACE MEXICO ON SPACE SPRING BREAK.

All I wanted was a movie with Bashir and Garak. :( It could have been a slightly zany buddy-comedy. Or failing that, the glory that is Q on the big screen, just 90 minutes of Picard screaming at Q and soliloquizing.

Hell, I'd slap my own mother to see the "What Shakespeare said with derision, I say with conviction: what a piece of work IS man, how NOBLE in reason..."

But no. Michael Bay movie, basically.
